MA Hoisting License Preparation/Continuing Education Courses – Bellingham, MA – PUBLIC
You are required to have a Hoisting Engineer license to operate any equipment that lifts over 10 ft in height, over 500 lbs in weight or over 1/4 yard of bucket capacity in Massachusetts, per the 230 CMR 6.00 law.Â
License Preparation: Cranes101 offers these courses for our customers both at your location for groups (minimum charge applies) as well as monthly at our Bellingham location (Class 2 and Class 1 license prep) held on the Saturday before the state’s testing week – see calendar). If holding a group class, we suggest that all students needing licenses submit their applications at the same time so they get the same testing date.This course is designed to prepare the attendee for successful completion of the Hoisting Engineers’ license test. Cranes101 recommends that before taking this hoisting license preparation course to be sure to apply for a test date and then schedule/ take the class closest to the test date.  The state’s exam schedule can be found here. Â
When planning your license prep course, please be aware that it can take 4-8 weeks to get a testing date.
Continuing Education:  Once a Hoisting License has been obtained, the holder must keep it active by participating in continuing education every 2 years. This is a safety seminar that will earn the operator his/hers required CEUs. These courses will allow you to renew your Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer License Cranes101 is an approved continuing education facility (HECE-000005) We offer these courses to customers for group training (minimum charge applies) as well as online AND monthly at our Bellingham location for Class 1 and 2 license holders. Â
We also offer License Prep and Continuing Education courses online at cranes101.com. The state of MA recently made some changes to their licensing program and standards (November 2025). Cranes 101 will provide adjustments to our curriculum as needed.Â
