FY23 Safety Training Grant Application – Commonwealth of Massachusetts

We received word about this exciting funding source from the Massachusetts Office of Safety, Department of Industrial Accidents and wanted to share it with all of you.

Q. What does this grant provide?
A. The primary purpose of this Safety Grant is designed to fund programs that reduce the risk of injury and illness to workers and promote safe and healthy conditions in the workplace through training, education,
and other preventative programs.
Q. Who is qualified for this program?
A. Funding is intended for Massachusetts based companies and Massachusetts based training providers only.
Q. How much money in safety training can I apply for?
A. Each fiscal year the grant program awards a maximum of $25,000 to qualifying Massachusetts businesses.
Q. Who is qualified by the Commonwealth as a safety training provider?
A. Cranes 101 is a qualified Massachusetts based provider. You must get a quote from that provider.
Q. What are the important deadlines?
A. Grants are limited to a set amount and are approved on a first come first served basis and must be submitted by August 31, 2022. Training must commence in 2023 and be completed by June 30, 2023.
Q. If we qualify and receive a grant, what does this mean?
A. That the safety training program(s) your company takes through Cranes 101 is paid for by the grant, meaning your safety training is free!

  • Crane Operator Licensing
  • Overhead Cranes Safety Training
  • Fall Protection Safety Training
  • Signal Person Safety Training
  • Rigger Safety Training
  • Bucket Truck Safety Training
  • MEWP Safety Training
  • Bucket Truck Operator Certification
  • Crane Inspector Training
  • Confined Space Safety Training
  • Hi-Rail Inspector Training

A. Go to the state’s application page to download the current document.

When applying please add the name of your company in the subject line of your email.

The original grant application and all supporting documents must be typed and emailed as one document to safety.grant@mass.gov  as outlined in the  safety grant check off summary.  Multiple attachments and zip files will not be accepted.  Incomplete grant applications will hold up processing and you may be contacted by the Office of Safety. If you need assistance with the grant application only,  please contact Deven Awalt or Maria Pesantes via email at deven.awalt@mass.gov  or  maria.pesantes@mass.gov.

At the time of your grant submission the original contractual documents must be downloaded, typed and emailed as one document to CandP@mass.gov and safety@mass.gov as outlined in the contractual documents check off summary.   Please do not sign Commonwealth of Massachusetts Standard Contract Form (CASL).   Signature of the Standard Contract Form will occur after grant award.  Please add the name of your company in the subject line.

Incomplete contractual documents will hold up processing and you will be contacted via email by the Contracts and Procurement Unit.
